two days to go

Thelma found out today she will take the Cumidin for 3 more days and then be done with that. No more blood tests.  No I haven't taken any pictures of the ice damage. I never got around to it when it first happened. Too busy keeping the fire burning. We did not have real bad damage with the trees. I would like to do some trimming of some of the tops but that will be expensive.  I got some more of the branches out to the road. I can tell I'm not as young as I used to be. Tomorrow is supposed to be a fairly decent day so should be able to get them all done.   Thats about it for today. Thelma has pt tomorrow and also Fri.    Later all   Ron Thelma  & Eli

Sunday

Do you realize the year is almost over already. only three more days. We have not done much this day. Just layed around. i went to Walgreens to a script refilled for Thelma's pain medicine. She is not taking near as much as she was before. She is doing great. My brother and his wife stopped in on Sat. for a while. They will leave for Mo on Mon.  Thats about it for today. Oh I did pull some branches out to the road yesterday. Will try and do the backyard tomorrow. The city is going to come around and pick them up That will be a big help to the homeowners.

Day after Christmas

 Well Thelma had pt this morning. Also two blood tests. She still takes one cumadin through Sun and then Mon gets checked again. That may be the last time since it has been almost three weeks after surgery then. What a three weeks it has been. It seems like every time we have to go out we get ice. This morning after her blood tests we went to get a bite to  eat before pt. It sleeted so hard that it put down about 1/2 inch of the stuff. Slippery and all the good stuff. It is going to get foggy here it looks like. She only does two days next week as the therapist says she is doing great. She is using the crutch some around the house. The therapist said she could do short steps without either.  Figure in another week she will be good as new. Ha. Guess that's about it for now. Later Ron Thelma and Eli.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all who read our blog. We had our Christmas with Gary Lisa and Kristin last evening. We had a meal here. Ham Sweet potato soufle rice  and broccali  Made noodles for the mashed potatoes. also baked apples. With cherry pie.  Thelma and I went to bed around 10:00 last night. We were both so tired. I think that all of the stress with not having power  made a difference. I think we both feel better today. We went to church this morning. and then went to chinese buffet for dinner. Was good. Not your typical meal for Christmas. This is the first year that my Mom is not with us for Christmas. I sure do miss her. I am glad that she was not around for the power outage. She would have been worried that we didn't have power. Tomorrow Thelma has a blood check, pt, and a check for cholestral. Thats about it for today.  More probably tomorrow.  Ron and Thelma and Eli

Day 14 Power on

When we got back from the ortho dr this afternoon we had power again. Boy it sure is nice to just flip a switch and have lights. Guess we just take that for granted. The ortho dr was really pleased with Thelma's progress. They took the staples out. She will see him in 6 weeks. She also had pt this morning. The lady said that she could start using a cane when in the house. She took a shower this evening. I helped her. We have a seat for in the tub and then I sprayed her down and she washed part of herself and I did the parts she couldn't reach. She had pt tomorrow morning and then we go to pick up Christmas dinner at Krogers. We will have ham sweet potatoe soufle and some other stuff. Thelma will make baked apples and we will make noodles.  We are so thankful that things are going good. She says that the other knee doesn't hurt like it did before. I told her the knee that was replace told the right one you better shape up or you will be gone too. ... (more)

Day 13

7:30 in the evening and still no power. But they were out checking  the lines to see where it was down and if just north of us is the only place. Home this is a good omen. They couldnt tell when they would be out. Eli has sweaters. About four of them . The one he has on now has a hoodie. "Kristin got it for her dog but he outgrew it. It is blue and looks good and fits him real good. He is napping on the afgan as going to the groomer really seems to wear him out. Gary came out and we brought some more wood up. Can't believe how much we have used.  Maybe by tomorrow night we will have power.  Thelma had her blood check today  Doesn't take any tonight and then only one for the next 3 days. Day 12

Still no power. Hauled more wood for the fireplace Gary came out and helped. The wind chill was -23. Not the best weather for it. Tomorrow Eli gets his clip and Thelma goes to blood check. Tues is Dr day. See what he thinks about his work. Also Pt Tues and Wed. Hope we get power soon. We are supposed to have Christmas here on Christmas eve. Day 11

Well it is Sat. Still no power. Have the generator running in the garage with door open a little. Cord running in through living room window. Have one light on in living room and cord going to fridge in kitchen .  Gary came out and helped me bring up 3 loads of wood to keep fireplace going. Probably have to bring up some more tomorrow. Thelma is ready for this stuff to end. It us supposed to get really cold by Mon. We have to take eli to groomer and Thelma has blood check. On Tues. and Wed she has pt.  I wil kep the fireplace going all night. Will set timer for every hour to check on it. We have never been without power this long for a long time. Will update tomorow. day 10

Sittin here in the dark with candles laptop, air card. We lost power about 12:39 this afternoon. now almost 6. We did not go for pt today as we had ice up the wazoo. Trees down and branches everywhere.  Roads aren't too bad now. Thelma seems to get better every day. Still a way to go. Thelma says thanks for the cards and wishes.  Got the fireplace going so staying warm  Later Ron and Thelma

Day 9

Went to the lab today for blood check. Have to cut one pill in half so instead of two pills take one and a half. Not much else has happened. Thelma did exercises this afternoon. Tomorrow is pt day.  We are supposed to have some ice tonight. That might make it fun in the morning.  Thanks to all who reply. Know if people are reading it. Saw a lady at the lab today that had both knees done at the same time. Been four weeks and she was only using a cane. She said doing both at the same time was not smart.   Later  Ron and Thelma, Eli too.

Day 8

Today was the first day of pt. About 1 hour and 15 minutes worth. After that we went and got brunch since it was almost 11:00. Then we came home and Thelma crashed on the couch. She was really tired. The therapist said that she is doing good. She has not seen anybody for wuite a while that was doing as good as she. She also did them tonight. She is resting now with ice pack on the knee. She had some swelling in her foot which they said is normal.  Tomorrow she gets her blood checked again.  Fri is pt again. Course it's supposed to snow again. That is not fun when she is using a walker.

Day 7

Well today was a day of doing nothing. Thelma took sponge bath this evening. She is bed now. It has snowed some here. I will have to clean the deck off tomorrow morning before we can go to pt. I told Thelma I hope the weather doesn't do this every time we have to go somewhere.  Tomorrow is pt in the morning and Thurs we do the blood test again.  The cumiden says right on the bottle warfrin. I remember my uncle having that on the farm. Killed the rats and mice or is it meces.   Well That's about it for today.  Later Ron and Thelma

Lost a couple of days

Don't know what happened but I lost a todays entry after I posted it Today is day six if you count Wed. We had to go into the lab today to have her blood checked. Since she is on cumadin which is a blood thinner  It is also know as warfrin. also know as rat poison.  They increased a little. We also made an appointment to start PT on Wed. This is at the same place. That may be a trying day. She has gone to bed now as she is tired  We went out to breakfast after wards. That was good. Day 5

Well Today is another day. We did not have too good of a night. She had to get a lot during the night to use the bathroom. We got up about 8:30 this morning. I made eggs and toast. Whe ate it good.  I went to Kristins Christmas concert at the Embassy this afternoon. It was good. Thelma had gotten the ticket since I said I didn't want to go since she couldn't.  We had company when I got home. Some friends stopped in They left about 7:30. Tomorrow we go to the lab to have her blood checked since she is on cumadin. Also going to check with the therapy people.   Later   Ron and Thelma  and Eli

Day Four

She's home. Brought Thelma home about an hour ago. I can't believe that after three days after surgery she is home already. I don't think either of thought she would be home this soon. It sure is good to have her home. Eli thinks so too. First thing he wanted was for her to throw his duck. She has to go to outpatient therapy starting on Monday. About two or three times a week. Also on a regiman of cumadin. They need to check her blood after two days of that then recheck it after a new precription.   Will update agein tomorrow. Day 3 continued

Got home about a half hour ago. She is doing great. She got out of bed and sat in a chair this evening. The doctor was in and said it looks good. We had some friends stop in. Ed Angie Paige and Fletcher Shaneyfelt stopped in. I know it made Thelma feel good that they stopped in. Angie even saw the staples The cut doesn't look too bad. I will have to count the stiches later.  Tomorrow she will do the therapy how to get in and out of a car and doing some steps. That will be the what tells when she can come home.  Will update tomorrow sometime.   Later Ron and Thelma

Thelma day 3

Got home from the hospital a little while ago. What a difference in her. She ate breakfast this morning and ate it all. Of cource she hadn't had anything since Tues evening. She is really doing better. Don't know yet when she will be able to come home.  I will try to keep this updated at least once a day and maybe twice. Day 2

Well am home from the hospital. She did not have a real good day. She is suffering from nausea. She can't keep anything down. They are going to change the pain med that she is getting to see if maybe that is making her sick. She walked a little in the room this afternoon. Will walk in the hallway tomorrow. See how that goes.   Eli is not having a good time with this. He is pouting. He doesn't understand where mom is.  Later  Ron

Surgery over

Well Thelma's surgery is over. She came through real good.  It was yesterday the 10th. She was up this morning and did a little moving  with the pt. The only had her up for just a little bit. She was suprized that it went that well. Will try and keep this updated every day as too how much she is doing and when she will come home.  Later Ron and Thelma
